Components of the UltraQuiet cabin

----------------------------------

Controller (ANCU)

The dominant frequencies of the cabin noise are measured by the Controller (ANCU) using microphones. The Controller sends control signals to Actuators which can be either loudspeakers or Active Tuned Vibration Attenuators (ATVAs).

----------------------------------

Microphones

Microphones hidden throughout the cabin continuously monitor cabin noise levels, enabling the system to adapt to changes in flight condition, passenger movement and other transient effects.

----------------------------------

Actuators

The type and location of Actuators for the system are chosen to match the particular aircraft structure and acoustic characteristic:

Loudspeakers

Loudspeakers, fitted behind the trim, are closely coupled to the cabin acoustics and generate 'anti-noise' directly.

Active Tuned Vibration Attenuators (ATVAs)

Alternatively, Active Tuned Vibration Attenuators attached directly to the aircraft structure reduce the vibration that cause cabin noise. An additional benefit is the simultaneous reduction in interior trim vibration, eliminating many of the buzzes and rattles which are often a major source of annoyance. The use of ATVAs minimises interaction with the trim, thereby simplifying installation and making the system particularly suitable for retrofitting to earlier aircraft.
