Components of the UltraQuiet seat Microphones in the seat headrest continuously monitor the cabin noise present about the head of the seated passenger. This is the original noise field:   The phase and amplitude of this noise is continuously processed by a digital signal processor located within the seat. The digital signal processor drives loudspeakers, also mounted in the headrest, in opposition to the original noise generating an anti-noise field:   The result of the destructive interference between the original noise and the anti-noise sound fields is a residual noise that is up to 10 dBA lower than the original noise: . The effect on the passenger is reduced fatigue and a more relaxed environment, facilitating conversation and the passenger's ability to work, read or simply relax. The UltraQuiet seat is completely automatic providing individual active noise control with no scheduled maintenance. Installation is simple and the technology is equally suitable for retrofitting as for new seating, with very low weight and power consumption.
